OMFG THAT PIG MOUNT WASN'T WORTH ANYTHING XXX MONTHS AGO, AND NOW YOU NEED 5 OF THEM FOR ONE CELESTIAL PIG MOUNT!
Anyways, mounts would suck. How the hell do I monk sitting on a turtle?

Since there will be Map Travel is GW2 , I see mounts ( if there are any ) would be useful for a character class. Or if simular to the wurms and siege devourers. I would not want to see mounts only as status symbols.

imo. theyd be awesome for the fun/heck of it for GW2, but not needed. (as the world of GW shows)
*unless they have a purpose that works with a new gameplay mechanic in GW2. meh why not...

Seige unit. Massive ongoing PvP. The Mists.
need i say more? Anyone who's kept up to date with any articles on GW2 will know what i'm talking about.
added: You guys drain me... must i do all the work >_< ...
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_PvP
i can't see everyone using mounts, except for the fastest guy who can get to the seige turtle first O.o ...
Although if... Mounts counted as an "armor set" , and basically functioned the same. (you either wear your set of armor, or "wear" the mount.

Mounts are the only reason i played WoW...i couldn't handle the "pick up 18 apples" aspect of the game and quit at level 12.
I can see no application for a mount other than increased movement speed around a persistent world - with map travel and zone instances that's obsolete. It'd be fun and kinda kewl to have a mount, but how would it work in GW? I'm guessing the same as Siege Devourers and Wurms and that thrill wears off quickly.
I can't see it happening, but never say never...

Well, a mount being a sort of "Armor set" doesnt dound that bad. Sort of like "instead of your armor taking damage, your mount takes damage, etc..
like this picture i made for you all, to sort of make it so you can understand my concept better...

QFT...GW2 will remain GW but in the end it'll have a lot of "WoW" features to cater to MMORPG wants.

Hence, mounts! They could be there just to boost your ego.

Anyone care to join?

Then make them cheap and have vanity mounts.

I can spare 125 gold.

Everyone said it already, but lets emphasize:
* Map travel -> Mounts are pointless. Feel free to add them to game for e-peen purposes as long as they are essentially useless goldsink as far as game mechanics is concerned.
* No map travel -> Traveling becomes timesink regardless of mounts existing or not existing. If i wanted to play that game i would be playing wow.

Not if they were class/skill dependent. In other words, riding mounts could be an attribute line akin to Beast Mastery, with linked skills, and instead of capturing the animal, you buy one. More expensive = better looking, but they operate the same way. That would pretty much be the only way I'd like mounts.
